Beginning Our Work Day Right During This Easter Season

We have begun our work during this Easter Season. Has anything changed for us? Has our Lenten discipline moved the needle at least an inch in our spiritual lives? More important, has our love of God increased even a smidgen?

And wasn't that the point of it all - to move the needle of our spiritual lives by doing all for the love of God?

Whatever your current state, the results of your efforts during Lent (or lack thereof), we can't get away from the basic truth, the fundamental reality, the most important reason we pursue our daily spiritual discipline. There's no point to it unless our intention is to draw closer to God.

So as we immerse ourselves in our work for yet another day; as we do so now in this glorious Easter Season, let's keep up our daily struggle to do just that: draw closer to God. With that thought, here's something to help us express our love to begin our work day right:

God: An Act of Love

God the Father I love you
At least I want to love you
And to want is itself to love
With all my heart and with all my might
With all my soul and with all my strength
For you are all-perfect
You are all-beautiful. You are almighty.
You are all-holy. You are all-lovable.
You are all-loving
You are the source from which all good comes
You are the center to which all good returns
You are the standard of all that is good.
All that is good is your shadow.
I love you for your own sake
Because you are what you are
I love you as my Father
I love you as your son
I wish to be a true son to you
Be to me a true Father
You want my love, help me to give it
Let me know you, realize you, better
That I may love you the more
‘Show me your face’
‘O the Lord, the Lord God
Wonderful and gracious
And of much compassion and true’
How can I stir this heart of mine to love?
Give me your love that I may give it back to you
Let nothing separate me from the love of you
Which I have in Christ Jesus my Lord
How words fail me!
How my very heart fails me!
God the Father Almighty
You know I love you
You know all things, you know I love you
I cannot say any more
I would love more if I could
Show me how
Help me that I may
God, Father of love.
