An Easter Sunday Hallelujah to Praise Jesus Christ and Start the Season

Performances of Messiah typically surface mostly during the Christmas Season. But, of course, the narrative of Handel's magnificent Oratorio begins with John the Baptist and continues through the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord - and beyond. The great Hallelujah chorus, which we hear so often at Christmas, belongs more strictly to Easter, as it expresses the triumph of Christ's Resurrection from the dead: "For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth...And He shall reign forever and ever."

To mark this glorious Easter Sunday, I found the great chorus performed by a rather spirited Korean orchestra and chorus. I picked this version from the hundreds you can find because it's sung in Korean - although Hallelujah is apparently "Hallelujah" in Korean too!

I don't know about you, but it's always a moving experience to witness the Christian faith of those halfway around the world, in a land far removed from our Western culture. And so we honor Him Who rose from the dead to redeem all of us sinners, no matter where we were born, we who have come to know, love and serve Him in this weary world of ours.  I encourage you to spend a few minutes and listen to this most glorious praise of Our Blessed Lord this Easter Sunday.

Happy Easter!
