Don't Follow Your Plan If You Don't Understand This

Do you have a plan for your day today?

How about a plan for your business?

Good. Planning ahead makes sense. Setting goals for yourself, along with a way to accomplish them is important.

Are your goals important? Do they motivate you to get up early and get going each morning? Do you pursue your plans, your goals with energy and enthusiasm?

Just don't forget this: God's in charge; His Holy Will be done.

Whatever goals you've come up with, whatever plans you've made, keep that one idea front and center: God's in charge; His Holy Will be done.

Sometimes we can get all wrapped up in the goals we set for ourselves. In fact, who hasn't heard the idea that you can do anything you want, be anything you want to be if you set your mind to it. And so you strive each day for those goals you set for yourself, and you feel good at the end of the day when you make progress towards your goals, best when you accomplish one or more of your goals.

And maybe you even become anxious when you don't make progress towards your goals, or if you don't accomplish something you really wanted to accomplish.

Remember this: in the end, it's not that you accomplish your goals that matters; what matters is that you accomplish His goals for you that really matters.

Psalm 127 (126) puts it this way:

Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.

Keep planning; keep striving. Get up early, work hard, as long as you need to work to fulfill your duties this day. But in the midst of your labor, as you strive to accomplish your goals, remember that you work in God's presence. Pray that you will understand His Will, what He wants you to accomplish this day.

Then get back to work.
