Starting the New Year Right at Work
Start 2012 the right way at work. Making a living, saving your money, providing security for your family - all of these may motivate us, but in the end they won't matter if we forget God, or keep Him in a little "compartment" somewhere.
So first and foremost, we start 2012 with a simple aspiration:
This isn't some dreamy, "pie in the sky" desire that we fit into day at work from time to time. It's got to at the center of every moment of our life - even during the busiest days.
Think practically: this could be the last year of your life. Every year that passes - like 2011 just did - brings us closer to death, to that day when Our Blessed Lord will hear us account for how we spent our time. Are you going to prattle on about your work (something we men are prone to do)? Do you think He's going to care how successful you were, how much wealth you amassed, how many honors you received, or any of the benchmarks most of us use to gauge how well we're doing in this world?
Of course not!
You know this, right? So live it. It's a New Year and you've got the chance to start it right. You've got the chance to do the one thing that matters
