What's wrong with this picture?

You're about to leave for the office. That big presentation's coming up today. You're ready; you're teams ready. Senior management is about to be swept off it's feet. You're career is on the move.

You can't control your thoughts now. You race through each point of the presentation. You're prepared, but just want to make sure that you've got everything right. You definitely want it to be perfect.

Good for you. You put your heart and soul into this. You were given a great responsibility to solve that big problem. Everyone will benefit from your solution: customers, management, the shareholders, not least of all, you and your team. Maybe you'll get a raise and a promotion!

Of course, you skipped your Morning Offering when you woke up...and you didn't have time to read any Scripture - even a paragraph of one of the Gospels - never mind spend a few minutes thinking about God in meditation.

But it's understandable. Your every waking thought is consumed with your great project. You can't help it. The big moment's almost here.

"Dad?" It's your son. "Where are we sitting at the game tomorrow?" Huh? Sitting where...oh, the ball game. Right. You got tickets and tomorrow's Saturday. "I can't answer you now. Besides, what do you care? We're going, aren't we?" Thoughts keep racing about the presentation.

Your wife fires a look in your direction. What does she want now? OK, so I was a little abrupt. But she knows the big presentation is today. She clears her throat. You get the point. The words start to spill out. You're about to look at the little boy and say you're sorry. You're about to give him that one little moment of attention that means so much to him. Then your cell phone rings.

You see the Caller ID. It's one of your team. There's a split second of hesitation, but you take the call. There's a last minute crisis. You're talking while you head for the door. Before you know it, you're in your car racing for the train station.

You deal with the crisis and end the call. Almost at the station. Oh right, your son. Give a call before you get on the train; there's still time. The phone rings again as you park the car at the station. Another last minute suggestion from one of the team. You want it to be perfect, so you've just got to take the call.

Here's the train, you're on your way. You're mind is totally locked into that presentation now. Everything else fades into the distance...
