Recession meditation

Work can be exhausting under normal circumstances. With the recession and financial crisis going on, many of us add a dose of worry and anxiety to our work load.

How do you keep up your spiritual works in this state - especially when you feel you've got to work even harder just to keep your head above water. After all, if you own a business and revenue's down, you need to push for more revenue. If you're an employee and revenue's down, there are looming layoffs - maybe you.

Busy, anxious as we are, occupied with "survival" - there's no time for prayer, never mind those few minutes of meditation to think about God.

But now's the time we need those minutes most. In our hearts we know God's got both the comfort and caring along with the answers we need. And just when we need Him the most, we don't have time!??

Make time - somehow, some way. Those 15 minutes of meditation, of thinking of Our Lord, of bringing Him all that worry, anxiety and exhaustion - that 15 minutes is the one real respite, the one true oasis from this "valley of tears."

Besides, imagine how much He'll appreciate your effort. He knows better than we do just how hard things can be for us. He's always listening, always attentive. He knows us better than we know ourselves. C'mon, you knew all that, didn't you?

You know it; now do it.
